2 of your 3 choices mentioned are 2 of the 3 worst diesels of the last 20 years, IMO. That’s probably why they seem more affordable based on miles vs other brands.
If a guy was saavy, a 6.0 or 6.4 can be a great budget rig, but not for the mechanically uninclined.
And yes it’s as important to read the owner as it is to inspect the vehicle, IMO, when buying used, especially well used. Also, I generally prefer a vehicle that has had valid parts replaced at expected service life intervals over the one that “has never had a problem, never needed anything”. IMO those are the ones that are going to nickel and dime you more.
