My V10 has 450,000 HARD miles. Engine is fine. It's incidental stuff that's been more of a hassle, like heater hose fittings, worn-through air conditioning lines etc. Lost a motor mount which damaged the pax side exhaust...
They can go a LONG time with good maintenance. But they're just a subject to bad maintenance as any other motor, so it's always good to avoid once with unknown history. But then again... gas motors are relatively cheap.
