You can address many of the common problems, but at the end of the day, it's still a sensitive motor subject to being side-lined by a single faulty sensor or a brittle wire harness. Most anything else will at least get you home....
I guess if you aren't going far, and you have good towing coverage, it can be a nice powertrain. It pulls well when everything is running right. Gotta be a good deal to consider it, when there's lots of more reliable options out there.
