I see some people think the 6.0 is a dog; others say it's a beast (maybe not compared to the 8.1...}. Some say it gets decent mpg; others that it's not any better than the 8.1 for mpg. I'll check out the 8.1L; also started running down some leads on 6.0L in the area.
Here is the deal on the 6.0.
2007 2500 reg cab long bed. 3:73
2013 2500 ext cab long bed. 3:73
2015 2500 ext cab long bed. 4:10
13 to 15.5 unloaded highway on any of them. You might see 16 if you baby it on 100% interstate driving in Ohio or somewhere flat.
10 to 13 unloaded city type driving.
7 to 9 pulling 6500 lb trailer with bed loaded to maximum with firewood, coolers and other gear.
Plenty of guts towing around central PA mountains and PA in general where nothing is flat.
You won't win the drag race down at the 1/4 mile strip, but will also not be the moron backing up traffic, crawling at 25 mph on some grade somewhere, you just have to know how to run it.
