This is the part that always tickles me. It's not like we're peddling and shifting 18 gears a minute. We're sitting there in air conditioned comfort with cruise control on listening to Sirius radio while the truck does all the work in it's normal rpm operating range.
Agreed. The Cummins did less downshifting for sure. But, I actually don't mind the odd dip into the high RPM powerband, especially now that I added a mild"ish" Magnaflow exhaust to the mix, I kind of enjoy the sound.
I enjoy the sound when I'm playing but when I'm towing I like the calm peacefulness of my diesel just putting along. After getting my '13 I've been thinking about putting a street tire and factory quiet exhaust back on my 2005. I'll get me another hot rod soon to get my sound fix.
I guess I just relate a good sounding V8 sound to gettin' on down the road and when you have 18,000# hooked to the back of it it ain't doin' nothin' but makin' noise.
