For those that have this hitch, how do you access the safety pin for the jaw lever? I can barely reach the lever itself, let alone the safety pin from outside the truck even standing on a step.Thinking about creating a new longer pin with extra long handle but worried about it jumping out of hole with no way to safety pin it.

I stand on a tire to reach in the truck bed.

We had the long running boards installed on our '14. Standing on the running board, I'm able to reach the handle & pin.

I stand on the outside tire of my DRW.

I use one of those small folding plastic stools (9 in high), as it is needed to access the in bed mounted tool box. Stow it in rear left floor or under rear seat.

Im only 5' Tall so I just keep a ladder handy. Only way I can reach anything.
