Remember that you will need equipment to maintain a property that size. Tractors, mowers, plows, snowblower, chain saw, log splitter, ladders, lawn sweeper, leaf blower and hand tools are a few examples. I have a similar size property with a similar building like you propose. Trust me, the building will get real small, real quick. I think that the best formula is one where you determine the minimum size and then multiply by 2.5.
Ha, Ha, ya, no snowblower needed in Florida lol. I'm not sure 3.5 acres requires a tractor either. My back yard is bigger then that, and yes, I do have a tractor, but, that is for snow removal. I don't even know what a lawn sweeper is but, I live in the middle of nowhere. Don't need a log splitter unless he plans to burn wood to heat his shop,,, in Florida. I let the leafs rot myself, but again, I'm not in a residential area.
Funny how folks hang on every word in an effort to counter. The idea was to get the OP to think about everything that might go in the building. For some people, mowing 3.5 acres with a push mower might be fun.
Wasn't trying to come down on you Lynmor. I agree he needs a bigger mower. That mower is going to use up space in his shed, and then things pile up from there. Soon the shed will be full of stuff. Sorry if I offended you.
