When you get down to worrying about a hundred pounds, you are too close for me. LT tires, fancy hitches, Timbrens, Supersprings. all help a little. A 2500HD helps a lot. I don't think CAT scales are going to be off more than 50-100 pounds. You have done a good analysis of the problem, and that is too little available payload.
