I was referring to the "max towing capacity" or "max Cargo capacity" numbers quoted in mfg ads, and the vehicle shown in the ads has fine print stating that vehicle has optional equipment and reduced CCC or towing.
I agree, they can't come up with a generic number, however it would be good if they clearly stated that buyers will need to look at the yellow door sticker to see actual CCC.
And I don't think it would be hard for mfg to give a darn acccurate estimate of CCC and unloaded weight when you configure a vehicle online. Would be reall helpful in shopping. I suspect they could nail it within 50lbs.
BTW, GM DOES provide weight calculations via this website. Same calculation as is used to generate the Maximum Occupant and Cargo number that goes on the drivers door pillar. Accurate within 10#
