As the OP, thought I'd add some info to my original post. I don't think I mentioned it, but my truck does have the heavy duty Tow Package, Trans cooler, HD cooling, 3.42 gears,.. basically GM's Max tow package for the 2011 Sierra Crew Cab. Just totally shocked when I realized how low my GVWR was... only 6800 lbs. According to my yellow sticker, I have 1507 lbs of cargo capacity with my configuration. My weight that I weighed in at was with full tank of fuel. Is it typical that these cargo capacity ratings are full of fuel or???
Im still debating whether to adjust my TT desires or buy new truck. If I found a trailer in the 6000 GVWR range, assuming 12% tongue weight, that's about 720 lbs. Leaves me about 780 lbs for cargo and passengers, according to the sticker, right? I also have to assume the wd hitch weights about 100, and if I assume the WD transfers 100lbs back to the trailer, that's a wash, right?
