Why using marketing such a gamble on what it really is...
Why best to use their GVWR's, GAWR's and GCWR's as that is definite without
wiggle like marketing
Half tons range from +6K GVWR up to 8.2K GVWR and everything inbetween
What is the GVWR of a HD half ton? Mine is 6,200 GVWR, but that is a 1980
Siliverado...the HD half ton of its' day. IT is still a 6,200 GVWR truck
while the current HD might be 7,800 or 8, 200 GVWR
Max tow, HD, heavy duty, super duty, etc are fuzzy marketing verbiage that
gets so many in ratings trouble
I've read here where two were talking about a 'max tow' and they were different
GVWR's...to two who were talking about different marketing badges and they
were the same GVWR...
Just use GVWR, GAWR, GCWR and the confusion is reduced to eliminated...and of course go out and actually weigh it fully
loaded...that is the only way to know where you are in reference
to 'YOUR TV's RATINGs'...
I applaud the OP for posting and how he has gone to the effort
of looking up, posting and figuring to come to a position of
deciding whether to follow the ratings system or not...a risk
management decision...which is a gambling decision...
