I can't speak about the 5th wheel either but can tell you I've had my Jayco with approx. 1500lb tongue weight and golf cart in the bed and the truck still wasn't quite level, slightly above actually.
I'm sure a trip to the scale would have said I was over weight, which is ridiculous IMO. If everyone adhered to the absolute numbers for these trucks they wouldn't be good for much more then hauling sunshine.
