Ok, I really shouldn't mention this because it's not your problem, but I am because of people that may bring up this thread in the future.
The "big hoss towing engine" has a problem with intake leaks. When this happens it will suck oil out of the valley and into the intake manifold. This burns a lot of oil and will show up on your plugs.
You said consumption is the same as always so you DO NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. In fact you are on the low side of oil consumption for the 8.1.
Like I said, I only bring this up for people that find this thread and DO have an 8.1L that burn a lot of oil.
In any event, just buy factory spec plugs and forget the fancy plugs no matter who tells you to get them, slap them in, and go on vacation and forget about all the gloom and doom about this problem. It's no big deal.
