Mr Oswald is a retired firefighter from I believe the Detroit area. He started the bear ranch as a rescure operation for orfans and nuciance bears. the bears roam free in large open pens of about 5 acres. You humans can walk all around to observe. When my son and I used to go it was 10 bucks a car load. You could go inside a pen and mr Oswald would let you hold and play with a bear cub. I think they quit that because to many people complained the bear cub scratched them, believe that! I havent been in a few years kids are grown now but it was great experiance to be so close to these amazing creatures. Another cant miss is the museum at whitefish point, see the bell from the mighty fitz. Hit the falls on the way. Its a great place to visit in the summer if you love the outdoors. Best pasties I've seen were probably at the Parkway Tropics in downtown GR. Been a few years for that too.
