This is great hearing about a particular dish that I enjoyed at my aunt and uncles house in Bessemer (10 miles west of Wakefield) in my youth. My dad grew up there (Bessemer) and his dad worked in the mines after arriving from Austria. I've heard about the large enclave of Welch folks in Nevada City and Placerville and couple of real nice pasty shops there. My brother and I want to return to Bessemer and visit some old areas around there and of course drop into a pasty shop. Sadly, my dad and aunt and uncle have passed on long ago.
