Having an intercom does not necessarily imply someone would be riding in the camper. An intercom could be useful if the owner doesn't have a pass-thru window which allows communication between the truck & camper.
In terms of the "stupid" comment, although that word may be a tad harsh, foolish would be an appropriate term. If you have ever seen what happens to an RV in a collision (especially in a rollover), it would be easy to imagine the potential injuries from flying debris - tv's, microwaves, pots, pans, tremendous amounts of wood, etc. The last place I would want to be in a collision, is inside an rv.
That aside, I like the intercom idea. I know my kids would love it . . . not to mention, Dad.
