Ditto on 2 6v batteries. If you have to do one or the other, upgrade the batteries first - you'll go through electricity faster than you will propane.
A portable 100 watt solar panel keeps my batteries nice and happy. I have and carry a generator, but I can count on one hand the number of times I've needed it.
