Camping with TC off truck

This question as come up before. A lot of folks frequently drop their campers at the campgrounds. (although, in ten years of weekend trips and two years of full timing, I've never witnessed this). Many TCers never drop their campers.

I'm in the latter camp. The reason I went with a camper was to take my kitchen, bath, and bed WITH me where ever I went.

I've taken TC off 4-5 times at CG's, state and private, and was never approached and told not to. I never asked before hand either. If I plan on being in a place for more than 5 days or so, where we want to do a lot of sightseeing we'll unload ( e.g. Wash. DC ). A lot of times we tow our motorcycles and get around that way.

We camped in a floodplain last fall and was told we could only back in and TC could not come off the truck because of a town ordnance of ins. or something I wasn't listening. He said that up away from the river it was OK.
