Can I drain my hot water heater with low point drain?

I was draining my hot water tank tonight and I also decided to open up the low point drains after I finished draining the tank. So I started thinking, can I drain my hot water tank using the low poin...

I replaced the plugs with valves for quick easy draining after every trip. Thus, I don't leave water in the tank (water heater and fresh water tank alike) unless we're camping or about to go camping.
