It will do a great job. I had a 2016 for less than 3 months, put 12k miles on it, and towed a 3000lb utility trailer to Kansas and back, and pulled my 10k GVWR stock trailer with it with no problems.
I think my 2016 might have been the best vehicle ever. For non towing, it was quiet, roomy, and had great safety features. For towing, it was capable (within the 1000lb hitch rating).
