The truck companies like to tout towing weight, their photos show huge boats, construction trailers full of logs, bricks, etc. But have you ever noticed they usually have only a driver in the cab.
Max towing capacity usually means maximum cargo capacity. You can tow the TT as long as you leave the family, dog and camping gear at home.
As stated, the number are on the truck's sticker not the salesman's mouth. Also, add about 1400 lbs to the dry weight.
