Can I upgrade my wheels?

First time here and hoping to learn a lot.

I need to replace the tires on my 2004 Jayco Jayfeather exp 25G and was considering multiple options. Currently I have the 180/85/d13 load range c tires in bias ply. I am considering radials as well as upping the load range to D just to have the extra comfort as the supposedly new tires it had when we bought it used only lasted a year.

I had also thought about upgrading to 14" wheels or larger but it doesn't appear I have the room. Anyone by chance have any experience with this model on what may work? I thought I had located information before but can't find it now.

Other then upgrading size, any input on what tire to get if sticking with the 13"?

The below link shows what my travel trailer looks like but is not my specific travel trailer.

  • The Carlisle HD shows a 185/80-13 D load range at 6840 lb on the axles.
  • Welcome to the forum! You are not giving much actual info about YOUR exact trailer. You should be able to upgrade your tires/wheels, but you need to measure the clearance available. You can get tire actual diameter numbers, for specific tires online. You need to keep in mind, the clearance between top of tire, to underside of wheel well. Also tire width clearance to fender, if applicable. One more item, measurement between the two tires. Normal minimum, should be 2.5-3 inches top of tire to under side of wheel well, and 1" plus, a minimum between the tires.
