Ford makes it confusing. I could not get specifics on the heavy duty payload package and what was provided as compared to the tow package and whether it was wise or possible to get both on a truck. Ford provides by far the most options which is both good and bad.
I paid less than $42k for a new 2011 2500HD with the diesel engine, Allison transmission, tow package, entertainment package, rear camera, tow mirrors, chrome sidesteps, etc. but it took two months to find it. I could have special ordered one and paid over $50k but we opted to spend the time searching instead. It was a proverbial needle in the haystack but it was well worth the effort required to find it.
