CARE AND WASHING interior

Hello, and yes in this thread I will be showcasing the fact that I am a male..
The camper has curtains that I want to wash before I put the camper away for the season, This part I can handle, the washing, as it's toss them into the washer and drier and fold, but how to store, do I put them into one of those plastic vacuum bags or will the warm/cold cycles cause the plastic to sweet and the curtains get moldy ..??

2) the seat cushions, they have zippers, and look like the same set up as a home couch/recliner. but I don't want to wash/dry them on the wrong settings and have them shrink, this might be a non issue, but I'd rather ask than find out after the fact?
the insides are foam, how would you clean that, or do you??
I'd think after 20 years, it be a good idea to clean them..

please help, I'm a male and not up on the ways of domestication :B

The hard surfaces I got covered, but cloth, nope..
  • I've simply used a steam cleaner with brush attachment for seat cushions. Most cushions I've run into have a plastic liner between the cover and the foam. This is not always the case. Regardless, you don't want to let much water soak in before sucking it up with the hose attachment.

As stated, wash the curtains in cold, hang to dry. There's no need to store them special. Mine are always attached when I close up the PUP so they just crushed wherever they end up.
  • do not dry the cushion covers they will shrink.. Wash on delicate with cold water and put back on while damp then let air dry.. I do this all the time at home for the cushion on my couch . If you let them dry first they wont fit back on (it always shrinks when it drys) the material will stretch when damp so that you can get them back on. Scrunch up the material inside out like you would a pillowccase , grab hold of the corners and fold the cushion in half lengthwise and pull the material over it so it turns right side out as you pull it over the cushion .. if you get the corners right you can just push around on the cushion to get the rest in place. If Its an older camper those curtains may fall apart if they were never washed before.. Take measurements of them before you wash just in case.
  • Most curtain and seating material is NOT washable at home. They may require dry cleaning. Personally unless they are in really bad shape I would only vacuum them.
  • You have options. How about after washing/drying fold and lay on the bed of your RV and cover with a sheet.
In the spring put them in the dryer, air only, and bounce any accumulated dust.
