Cargo Carrier for Lance 830

Hi all,
Anyone have any suggestions for a rear cargo carrier, hitch mounted, for a Lance 830? I measured and the 830 hangs over the rear of truck 26" which is too long for a 18" hitch extension.

I really don't want to take off the factory hitch and replace with a Titan or Torklift.

I need a 22" hitch extension, combined with the added 4" a standard tray adds, to clear the rear of the camper, so that the cargo tray doesn't hang under the rear 4".

The folding trays seem to have longer shanks, and might work with a 18" hitch extension.

Or maybe this:

  • I would just not do it. To much can go wrong. The bonce of the carrier is far more severe that just the weight of a trailer. But here is an idea that will work. Have a 2 inch x 8 inch receiver welded to each side of the cross tube of your existing hitch. Now use those two receivers to connect your carrier to. Yes you will need two addition 2inch tubes attached to the carrier. I did that with my 1040. I can carrier hundreds of pounds without worry.
