Got rid of my folder just for that reason.Takes up two parking spots if you leave the hitch on the rear of my extended cab truck and always worried somebody would back into the carrier and crush it.Good Luck, Mike

could you push it in and then drill another hole for the hitch pin so that you'd use that hole when extended and the original hole when folded. Not as convenient obviously but it does stick out a long way.

Is there any reason it's not on the rear? I used a hitch haul with my old popup and it worked fine. Never thought of putting one up front, but I've seen them on some rigs.

You will get better air flow around that basket than some who have their basket closer to the grill. My only concern would be front axle weight with the extra leverage since we do not know what you plan to carry.

When they are installed at that level, don't they scrape the ground at times when there are dips in the roads at some intersections exiting driveways etc ? When I used my front rack, I used a bent shaft that raised the rack higher. Someone here suggested to split the load to allow a gap in the middle of the rack , allowing better air flow for cooling. atv cargo rack

I had a folding extension with a rubbermaid container that extended forward due to it being wider at top. I think this means I have to take the folding extension off.

WA allows 3' from the front bumper and 15' from the center line of the rear axle. You exceeded that?

That whole kit and kaboodle sticks out just shy of 4 feet in front of the truck.

Super Dave, I believe you are correct on the 26", I called the local PD, 4 ft from front tire which is 26" from my bumper, I drilled another hole and got another 5 1/2 inches back, now I'm 25" total out from bumper.

I wouldn't worry about it. Here is mine...I don't use the tool box because it blocks air but I use it for chairs and a tent. This is a 2 in 1 carrier that also has racks for holding 4 bicycles.

Best to check your State traffic law. Here in CA, there is a maximum distance something can extend beyond the bumper in the front. I forget the exact number but I think it is around 26". Before you drill any hole in it, see if you'd still be illegal regardless.

Little kid running, adult glancing elsewhere while coming around the front corner of your truck in a shopping center. To easy to hurt someone with that.

You should get the one that does not fold/ stick out like a sore thumb and put it under the camper on the rear hitch. Someday you'll be in close quarters and forget about that large vestige and crush, crunch something.

If you need extra storage and cant spare the use of the rear hitch you should get a flatbed put on your truck with the side saddle boxes under the camper wing.

May God present America with a true home run wake up call that does not hurt anyone.
