while I don’t know FE and have never read his blog…
I do know I have disagreed, and argued with him many times and think he drank from the jug of ST Kool-Aid…
What is funny beyond reason is that Jim tied me to FE because of only the few things I do have in agreement with him…
Whether you like or dislike, agree or disagree with FE he has researched the issues and provides a lot of useful information… even if much of it is widely used marketing speak, he is often flamed for no reason by some and on a regular basis… that seems to continue today…
The problem I have is all the information available follows the marketing schemes of the tire mfg., that I believe is half-truth and misleading at the very best..
That is where my disagreements stem from with FE… but also with tireman9 and Capri, all of which have a wealth of knowledge and experience… both have provided good information and had used statistics to back up their words… but too often those statistics apply to all tire types and there are no statics that apply to the ST tire only… an example is Tireman stated that test have shown that failures are mostly caused by under inflation or overloading… ok I buy that but there are no test to show that to be true for the ST tire or why they fail more than another type of tire, of even if they fail more than another tire, and no mfg. or expert would ever reveal the actual failure rate for any type of tire ST or LT…
I have my own beliefs about that based on extensive reading I had done, and my guess is automotive tires fail at about .5% and trailer tires at about 1.0%... twice the rate of automotive type P and LT… and this was before every ST tire was Chinese… and no I have not been able to verify that, it is purely my estimation and educated guess, and I have no credentials or resume nor have I ever claimed to have… I have always wore a work shirt with my name on it…
Anyway this is all the time I have at the moment… I have other better things to do…
