Just to double check, I'd call an exterminator for an opinion. If you have one that services your home regularly, that'd be the one. We had a fly problem that was bad enough on one trip that we were ready to invest in household flea/whatever bomb. DH thought maybe those awful looking fly strips would work. Tried it enroute and problem solved. Wonder if one of those stretched out near the problem area would do anything for your carpenter ants?? If you do decide to set off a fogger/bomb, remember that you're going to have to clean all surfaces before you use it again and remember to remove all food. Good luck.
