There are many types of ants called "carpenter ants". The real ones eat FAST - the others are more interested in the water - the wood gets eaten "in the way". Either way, no one wants them.
A bomb won't reach every hidden recess. You can also insert Diatomaecious Eart into all spaces - and certainly into areas you have open. It is a non-toxic, safe powder which kills and keeps on killing insect by cutting their bodies and causing them to dry out. Totally safe around humans and animal - get "food quality" DE - I but it on Ebay.
Insects track it back to nests - and eat dead ones with DE on them. You could also inject it through small holes and cracks.
