I'm going to give a different view to this whole thread and idea. I think carrying the extra weight that a couple of five gallons cans would be is a bad idea with this combination of trailer and tow vehicle. Placing that much weight on the back of this trailer is going to lighten the tongue weight a significant amount, the same as adding it to the front is going to increase it by an equal amount. Adding the weight to the back of the vehicle ( mounting the can "Jeep-CJ style" ) would add to the already overloaded Tribute rear suspension.
I hate to be the one who throws water on the party here, but that is a marginal tow vehicle for that trailer. Adding another nearly 100 pounds to the situation is not a good idea.
