The very best heater for an RV in my opinion is the Catalytic heater such as the Olympian Wave heaters..No electricity required and the Wave 8 heated my large trailers and Fifth Wheels very well..I used the small Wave 3 in my Lance pickup camper and it did a great job.Very economical on propane also.
My wife much prefers the Wave heater to an electric..Used correctly they do a great job and there is little condensation saving on battery power without the furnace running all the time in cold weather.
Have one but can not be used safely while sleeping. They "CAN" cause CO and low O2. They usually have a sensor for low O2 but not CO. You must make sure that you have a stand alone CO monitor that works correctly. Not sure how to check the O2 sensor. They even state in their manuals not to use them while sleeping. You also need to open some windows so that they do have enough O2, so that low O2 sistuation doesn't occur.
To me, they're worthless since I want the heat when I'm sleeping. I only use mine in the tent to be comfortable while changing for bed and getting up. It stays off while sleeping.
Oil heaters are more efficent. The oil cools more slowly so less electric is needed. And it heats up a larger area without noisy fans. I would choose these as they aren't directional or noisy. We use these at work in isolated sheds that have switch gear and logic controllers in them.
