Champion 3500 Generator

Anybody out there belong to BJ's Wholesale Club stores they have a Champion 3500 Generator model # 46596 for $250 after the $50 coupon in their June mailing coupon book. I know its not a Honda but come on for that price. It comes with a 30 amp rv outlet built into the panel.I have a portable Honda generator for my house but I sure don't feel like leaving the $3000 Honda in the back of my truck.

3000 watts continuous power divided by 120 volts equals 25 amps. So the breaker is the right size. It only has a 30 amp plug for the convenience of plugging in the trailer.
  • we bought our camper full well knowing that my wife would probably never camp anywhere there wasnt FHU's but in an emergency or the once a year or every couple of years we may need a generator (guys trip), i think this one will be perfect, it's on the short list of things to get soon
  • I've had a Champion 3500 for several years and I'm very happy with it. Cheap, and runs my 15K A/C. I always leave it in the bed of my truck, so when I run it the sound is baffled by the sidewalls. Never had anyone complain about it.
  • We are the third owners of a well used older 3500/4000. It looks beat up but it starts right up first pull and will run our AC even at 9200 ft plus.

It is louder than a inverter generator but much much quieter than the Coleman 2500 Powermate we had first. We use it boondocking where we have no neighbors and can't hear it in the trailer.

The best thing about it being so inexpensive especially bought used is I was able to also get a simple solar system, increase my battery bank and install LEDs, all for less than I would have spent on a big inverter generator. I would have had to run that daily to charge our single battery, now I'll only need to start the champ for AC.

  • Same here. I have that exact one now for about 3 years and I use it alot. Love it. Never skips a beat. Runs my 13.5 ac and everything else with no problems.
  • Love my Champion 3500, for as seldom as we need to use it it is great! :)
  • I've had my Champion 3500 for three years now and I have no complaints. Works when I need it and it didn't empty my camping fund to purchase it. Regarding it being louder than a Honda; yes it is and I don't care. It's not run enough to anger that many people and it's a lot quieter than some peoples tow vehicles.
  • If your choice of generators is determined mainly by which is less painful to get stolen from your truck, then that's a good choice.
