They say to never change the trans fluid ????? when did trans fluid last for ever ??? Maybe the manufacture would rather sell owners new transmissions in a few years instead of a couple gallons of trans fluid ???? I don't care what the manufacture says my trans fluid is getting changed regularly !!
While I don't believe in 100,000 mile plus transmission fluid changing, the 30,000 mile change has gone the way of the dinosaur. They have come a long way in fluid technology in the last 20 years....OR SO.
Mine gets done approx. every 25k miles. fluid every few years is cheaper than a new trans!
Funny how quite a few (not the quoted poster here) say not to follow the owners manual when it comes to towing weights because they are inflated numbers. yet when it comes to maint. the same people will follow the manual like a bible and actually push the numbers. :h
Which is it people?!
It's simple-the manual says 100K for the tranny under normal circumstances,50K for severe driving. So splitting the difference (40K severe-75K normal) is no big deal. But if your running Dex6 or the equivalent in Fords etc., 25K is way too so if you do a little research on bobistheoilguy.com or some other site that will tell you how good the new fluids are. Changing any sooner IMHO is throwing money away along with the 3,000 miles oil change.
