I can find data to prove you right or wrong but as a retired automotive engineers I know these facts
• Modern (past 10-20 years ?) light duty automotive charging systems will back down the charging voltage to somewhere between 13.2V-13.8V.
This is NOT SUFFICIENT TO PROPERLY RECHARGE A DEEP CYCLE AUXILIARY BATTERY !• More and more modern light duty vehicles now have some type of electronic battery "state of charge" monitor. This will only make the previous condition happen more quickly.
• After boondocking for a day and depleting your house battery (bank) to 50% state-of-charge the best way to replace 100% of the energy used is by connecting that battery (bank) to a smart multi-stage charger.
