We are getting way off topic but:
First - I don't think many RV's are built on anything light duty. My truck that I had for the truck camper ran a heavy duty alternator. The motor home is on a F350 chassis and from what I could learn before I bought it runs a heavy duty alternator. My van definitely has a heavy duty alternator and has lots of power to not only charge but to run the inverter, etc.
Every Ford vehicle built in the past 10-15 years, including Light and Medium Duty trucks, school buses and motor home chassis use basically the same PCM and alternator/regulator. The biggest difference is how much power (Amps) the alternator is capable of generating.
The smart charging systems are "smarter" these days (some use battery "health" or temperature sensors, some use extremely accurate current shunts), but the general principle is to generate the LEAST amount of power necessary to recharge the ONE battery installed in the vehicle.
