Charging problem with AF1150 single slide, dry,gen & AC

On the way back from Az. the batteries would run down quite fast (although it worked the furnace all night) it drops to 11.7. Usually when I turn on the generator all the green lights go on and it charges up to 13.2 and then drops down into the high 12s when it is turned off.
The truck during the day charges it back to about 12,6.

I checked the batteries and they are both still good (Group 29, interstates)

It would seem the charger or something is not charging up the batteries any help would be great.... I cannot even find where the charger is!

  • You might want to get one of these:

    Charge Wizard

They are inexpensive and plug into your converter. It will tell you at a glance what the converter is doing to the batteries.
  • OK if I find the converter is there any indicator lights or something I should know?

Took both batteries out and had them checked they seem to be good although one took some water.

I ran the fridge on LP the whole trip .. never on auto.

Thanks for the comeback..... it is plugged in now and I will check it on Monday.... what annoys me is that all the green lights do not go on just one or two and it never says 13.2.... but I will wait for a day or two and try again.

  • Dave, #1 if you have a 3 way fridge, run it on gas not auto mode.
I have been told that sometimes a wacky circuit board can flip flop in/out of 12 v. mode while in auto mode.

#2. (disconnect one at a time) try to isolate each battery to make sure one battery doesn't have a weak cell.
Individually charge and use one at a time while checking voltage for a few hours. See if there is a difference between the batteries. One weak batt will bring down the good battery.

It happened to me with my AF. One battery was actually weak when used individually. If that's the case, buy a new battery .
You might need to buy two if the other good battery is an older battery. I think two equal batteries would give you most amps.

Good luck , have a safe trip home , Bob

Your converter charger should be under the cabover step lid. Lift the step, remove the plastic bin, and the converter should be in there.Mine is on the right side.
