Go for one ton not 3/4 you will never regret it. And if you plan to go west to the mountain states get the 6.7L

What's your load in the truck? Weight of occupants? Cargo? Is that 2,350 from the specs or the load sticker on the door jam?

My guess is that you will be well within any ratings, but we can't tell for sure without more info on your overall load.

I am definitely going F-350 with the new truck.....not even a question in my mind....for the little cost to go to the 1 ton, it is worth it.

2,350 payload is from the yellow door jamb sticker. Occupants are approx. 800 lbs total. Throw in some fire wood and a small grill in the bed and that's about it.

We stay east of the Mississippi (Only been camping in 10 states). Go up to the Adirondacks once a summer. Mostly stay within 3-4 hours of home.

Yes, provided your people and stuff in the truck plus the TT tongue weight are under payload.

It will be close but you'll probably be okay.

2,350 capacity - 800 lbs people = 1,550 available cargo.

Taking your dry trailer and adding an average number of 1,200 for everything else and you get
8,200 + 1,200 = 9,400 lbs trailer weight.

Take 12 percent of 9,400 for tongue weight. 9400 * .12 = 1,128 tongue weight.

Add 75 lbs to the tongue weight for weight distribution. 1,128 = 75 = 1,203 tongue and hitch weight on the truck.

Subtract the tongue weight and hitch weight from your available cargo capacity.

1,550 - 1,203 = 347 lbs.

That means you have 347 available pounds for firewood and other things in the truck bed.

You can also figure this as worst case weight wise.
Available cargo capacity after passengers 1,550
Trailer GVWR 9,900
Approximate hitch weight 75
Tongue weight 15%

9900 * .15 = 1,485 tongue weight.

Add in 75 lbs for the hitch.
1,485 + 75 = 1560 lbs.

This would be 60 lbs over your available cargo capacity with no room for firewood.

I'm betting it's also 60 lbs over the weight distribution rating of the receiver tube on your truck.

So don't put 1,700 lbs of junk in the trailer, come in somewhere between the two numbers and go camping.

Nor would I expect a "1 ton" srw truck to handle the load any differently, apples to apples.

And putting 4 adults in the cab of the truck doesn't run you out of remaining payload at 1550 lbs, lol.
That's ridiculous. But it's the world some folks live in....

You are fine with those weights but even if you were to overload your truck by 1000 lbs or so it's not like the wheels would fall off. I certainly wouldn't recommend doing it but I've had 11,000 lbs of pin weight on the back of my SRW with no ill effect.
