I had a 2015 Chevy 2500HD with the 6.0 and 4.10 gears. My trailer was about 9,000 loaded give or take a few hundred pounds. I routinely got 8mpg when towing. Best I ever did was 8.5mpg and the worst was 7mpg. When not towing and using it as a daily driver, I got 12mpg around town and 16 on the highway. I liked the big 36 gallon gas tank but my 2017 RAM 3500 Heavy Duty with the 6.4 Hemi and 3.73 gears does a little better (8.5 towing 10K 5th wheel, 14mpg around town and 19mph highway when not towing) and it weighs more at 7,200lbs. but it only has a 31 gallon tank. I will say that the 6.4 Hemi is much more responsive when not towing. I would say it's quite snappy! The 6.0 in the Chevy wasn't.
