I always like the comments that people say they go back to gas because of the possible high cost of repairs on the diesels. I just cut a check for $5700 for a Tundra with 128,000 miles. Air pumps and heads. Also some VVT issues. Another dealer wanted to put a new engine in it. LOL - dodge_guyExplorer IIUseless test to me. first off the manuf gives you manual control of the trans for a reason. use it, obviously letting the truck shift for itself does not work that well! secondly that is a huge rpm drop with the 6 speed trans. almost like it had a low 3.?? gear! which would also explain why it couldn't hold the speed after it downshifted.
I don't like their tests because they don't go out of there way to get the most out of a truck. - kw_00ExplorerJust got back from a state park in Georgia, saw several gas jobs. The guy beside me had a Ford 6.2, asked him about it, liked the truck a lot and went to gas cause of the diesel emissions.

Enjoyed the video... One thing for certain I see a lot more GM 2500 trucks with the 6.0 gas engine than ram for Fords gas engines.
There are a LOT of 6.2L Super Duties in my area now even though gas is much more than diesel. When Ford had the 7.3L it was extremely rare to see a gas Super Duty around here. I wonder what has changed......... :B
In contrast, most HD GM and Ram trucks in my area are diesels. The Vortec GM trucks are primarily in fleet trucks. - Enjoyed the video... One thing for certain I see a lot more GM 2500 trucks with the 6.0 gas engine than ram for Fords gas engines.

I find the towing series on Ike and truck assessment series by Andre Smirnov and company pretty good. They do fairly thorough tests. - kw_00ExplorerThey have a toggle switch on the shifter that u can easily adjust the gear selection yourself. I know that's not what they do, but that's how I run my gas truck. Now with the tune, I really don't need to anymore, cause it keeps in the power band and chooses the proper gear. I usually pull in 5th and lock out 6th. I just got back from Georgia driving on Hwy 19. Was getting 9.5-10.00 pulling at 65mph, hand calculated Driving with the 89 tune. I watched the video and figured typical gm computer management, they really need to change that. Hence for me the tune... I'm sure just the stock truck with using the toggle switch and pulling that grade, u would see considerable difference in pulling and time to get to the top. Again I know that's not the way they test the trucks.

Was that a Duck making a goat noise? :) - RSD559ExplorerI watched it earlier. It was like my Tahoe. Find the lowest possible gear and stay there, no matter how painful. It was low 3000s until it got down to 35 or 40 mph, then it would downshift to about 5500 rpm, pick up speed, then quickly shift back down to the 3000s. Would've frustrated the stuffins out of me. If it weren't a test, they would have shifted manually to get the good reps. But their mode is to let the truck handle all shifting.
