I believe that the SAE tow ratings make you subtract your GVWR from your GCVWR for max towing. That is why 6000 is the answer. A 17000 GCVWR and a 11000 GVWR.
I saw that this was released to the 2016 Order Guide. You can get it in LS or LT trim. Appears to have all the standards of a 1500.
I would definitely defy the max tow rating up to the restriction of the receiver (documentation says 900lb tongue weight).
At least this vehicle will break the mold regarding exceeding your payload with just passengers.
