I had a 1985 Chevy S10 and it towed a 2000 pound pop up for a while. With a trailer you will have more wind resistance ce with the frontal cap being much higher than a pop up. It may pull, but actual towing at highway speeds and it will be struggling.
There is a huge difference between an '85 S-10 and a '03. I have an '86...I know. The largest engine you could get in '85 was a 2.8L V-6. A 2003 could have a 4.3L Vortec...HUGE DIFFERENCE.
Need to make sure you know what your talking about. The 4.3 will do it no problem. If he has the 4 cy, you will be correct. - LwiddisExplorer IILong pulls will really take the stuffing out of this 15 year old mini-truck.
