Chevy Traverse

Anyone towing with a Chevy Traverse, 6cyl with tow pkg? Would like to hear how it does, my trailer is small, only about 2,000 lbs unloaded. Also would like gas mileage info, with an without a trailer.

  • I have a 2016 Kia Sorrento which, of course, is not a Traverse, but it is the same class of vehicle. 7 passenger, V6 powered, unibody, crossover SUV/CUV. Mine has a 3500lb towing rating (with AWD I'd have 5K) and the Traverse I believe has 5200. The Traverse is a little bigger physically. So, similar vehicle, though the Traverse may be a slightly better tow vehicle. My pop-up is about 1800-1900LBS unloaded, so I probably am running between 2300-2500 on the road. My CUV handles it quite well. I think my gas mileage overall is probably a little better than a Traverse so I can't help with that, but I suspect that you'll be fine towing what you have, or something a bit bigger, with a Traverse.
  • I rent them all the time for work travel. Not a bad vehicle. Can't help with towing MPG, but on the interstate between 70 - 80 I get around 18 MPG +/-.
  • I tow with one. Other than the fuel economy towing I have no issues and I pull a lot more than 2000 pounds. Running about 21 not towing down to 15-16 towing flat.
