  • I have a 2007 8000# truck with a 5.9L CTD 325/HP & 610/ft.lbs torque towing a 14,000# 13'4" tall 34' long 5vr that holds 62 Mph in cruise control on a 6% grade getting 11 MPG.

No I am not running a tuner.......don't need to.
  • I see enthusiasts still running tunes on their engines with the understanding that they will have more repairs and shorter engine life, but most people looking for reliability and longevity leave theirs stock.

Your warranty is not voided using a tuner unless the fault/failure can be traced back to a change created by the tuner. If you are willing to go down this path, you need a good understanding of what you are changing so you can either fix things yourself or be able to have an intelligent conversation with the person that will be working on your modified vehicle.
  • Having chipped older diesels, I can't imagine why you want to do a newer one unless you're just out dragging with the kids at the stop lights.

  • From being somewhat of an internet truck/RV forum junkie I've noticed a HUGE drop off of chip use in these newer trucks. It's probably both the trace-ability of the newer trucks as well as the new ones have so much power that why bother?

The only folks I really see chipping are trust fund kids with more money than they know what to do with so they don't care about the warranty.
  • NO.
In my opinion you're crazy to even think about it. 400 HP and 800 pound feet, come on, who needs more. Why void the warranty on a $50,000 truck?
  • How many have had them long enough to be out of warranty? Using one instantly voids your warranty and the new computerized trucks know when one is installed and log that fact where it can't be deleted.
