I don't know where all this non-sense comes from about modern 1/2 ton trucks. Some have more payload than 3/4 and 1'ton trucks..They are the 3/4 tons of yesterday.
I use my trucks heavily, including my old 1/2 ton. There not grocery getters, there wood getters and trailer haulers used as a pickup out west was intended.I used it side by side with this 2002 Chevy HD2500.There was "No" huge difference some talk about..We hauled the same 10,000 lb wood load in a trailer without trailer breaks..Did I notice a big difference..No but I had bags on my Ford.Power-The same and I carried a better load because of the bags...
The newer 1/2 tons can easily handle a 8000lb trailer.....I did it and as well as the HD-2500
