Smaller SUVs such as the Grand Cherokee do not usually make good tow vehicles for full sized trailers simply from a physics standpoint. They have short wheelbases which are less stable and they weigh less so the weight of the trailer can push them around more easily. I would not choose a trailer with more than a 6000 pound GROSS weight, which will be more like 4000 pound dry weight if you go with a small SUV. An Expedition or Suburban would be better for a GROSS weight closer to 8000 pounds. After that it calls for 3/4 ton trucks in my opinion.
