choosing tow vehicle

First pick a TT. With the new fiberglass ultralights or a hybrid you can be around the 5000 lbs mark .If you do not have a need to carry 4 adults and a lot of stuff a SUV will work.
I personally like the Durango hemi as they can be had slightly used for a song. They have 6500 lbs rating . so that gives you a lot of window. Any 1/2 tonne will work but it will be longer/bigger . F150 2.7 EB is will also work in this case. The Suburban/Tahoe both will work and are another great platforms.
Everything Depends on the TT. Most TT dealers will deliver to your house or if you are buying private I am sure the last owner will tow it to your house . so you can shop the TV with no urgency knowing what you are towing.
another sleeper if you are into the luxury side, is the GL320 TDI merc with 7500lbs tow capacity. You can look at a Toureg TDI if you can get the TT around 5k.
