Body shop estimate is $10,800. 20 business days to repair. We will be looking into diminished value claim once it's complete.
Sounds good. but there will be no reason for diminished value if its repaired properly!
That is not correct. If the body shop reports the repair, as it should, even if repaired properly there will be diminished value when the OP tries to trade it in or sell it. I believe the threshold is around $2000. This was directly from a dealer when I was discussing trading my truck in and had $2000 damage in a previous accident that was repaired properly.
And I believe Car Fax and others will ask about damage and how much was the repair, not was it fixed correctly.
Never believe a dealer! why would a vehicle that was repaired properly be worth less. If its repaired back to 100% pre accident condition it will be the same truck!
And BTW, the dealer will do/say anything to lowball you and get your trade for as little money as possible.
Wrong!!!
In Ga they pay diminished value regardless of how/where it was fixed. Simple fact is the vehicle is worth less after an accident and the insurance company must pay for that loss in value. Its the law! And I'd press them hard for every penny possible. Carfax and all these other companies will have a record of the truck being in a serious collision and it WILL effect resale and or value from now on.
And a salvage title is when a vehicle is totaled and purchased from the insurance company or owner and rebuilt, inspected, and re-titled as a "salvage" title. The OPs truck was not totalled.
