Body shop estimate is $10,800. 20 business days to repair. We will be looking into diminished value claim once it's complete.
Sounds good. but there will be no reason for diminished value if its repaired properly!
Yes there is reason with people looking to Carfax and getting an "accident" on the report.
Exactly. It is not, is the vehicle in the same condition as before the repair. But given two identical used vehicles but one was wrecked to the tune of $10k but repaired properly would you pay the same price for it? I wouldn't.
I would if it was the better car! I've seen Carfax show some problems that were never an issue. I've even seen them reported improperly. So Carfax isn't the end all be all!
Again, repaired properly, a vehicle in an accident is worth no less than one that wasn't!
You didn't read what I wrote. Two identical used vehicles but one was in a major wreck a some point in its life. This by definition is diminished value. To take it one step further. What if the insurance company totaled the vehicle due to cost relative to value. But a body shop repaired it to as new condition. Would you pay the same price for that vehicle with a salvage title?
I've never seen two identical used vehicles. specially in the same space where I could choose.
