They just use an ECM reader park the truck in the parking lot and open the hood. Temps on exhaust go up to over 1200 degrees. Its not a good option should be avoided if possible. Warped the plastic on the rear shock on my truck. Had it done a few times had an egt sensor go bad a few times.
