Clean Exhaust Filter readout

My son has a 2010 Chevy D/A. While he was driving yesterday he heard a tone and saw this readout on his display, CLEAN EXHASUT FILTER (see manual). He couldn't find anything in the manual about it. Someone at work told him it meant to just drive it for a few miles and it would go off. It does not have DPF, just for infor. and probably has less than 10,000 miles. Can someone enlighten us please?

Maybe he's thinking it doesn't require DEF, would would be the case with a 2010.

    X2 :B Us humans and our acronym's.
  • Have him give us a call. He may need dpf delete programming if he has chosen to remove the dpf (exhaust filter for the 07-12 vehicles)

  • Unless he removed it, it should have one. If it was removed, then it's probably an error code due to its removal.

There should be a procedure for a "manual regen". Highway driving normally gets it hot enough to burn it off.

Are you saying the DPF was taken off of this truck? IOW's this truck has a DPF unless it was taken off.
